Great Victorian Fish Count 2023

Tour Details

The Great Victorian Fish Count is an annual event that began in 2002 and is held across Victoria's coastline in November/December each year. The purpose is to gather invaluable marine data that can be used to improve our understanding of fish populations in Victoria and learn and connect to our marine environment. Developed by Victorian National Parks Association, this citizen science projects combines having fun and getting out in nature whilst contributing to important scientific data.

Your tour begins with our knowledgeable and highly experienced guides demonstrating the basics of snorkeling as well as information on the marine life you can expect to encounter. They will then cover the importance of citizen science projects and how to correctly identify and survey our marine life.

Then its a short walk to Portsea Pier to begin your underwater adventure and fish count. Upon your return, there will be a short debrief to discuss what you observed.

Join us in the water and see this beautiful part of the world with your own eyes whilst contributing to meaningful conservation for the species your seeing.
